Lagos with a population of over 20 million people is facing a huge shortage of qualified nurses. When it comes job opportunities for nurses , Lagos is listed among States in the “high end” class because of the high number and variety of general and specialist health facilities on offer. Statistics from the Healthcare Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, HEFAMAA, shows that in Lagos, there are 26 registered General Hospitals, 256 public healthcare centers, 2, 886 private hospitals or specialist clinics and laboratories or diagnostic centers in addition to an estimated 160 tradomedical centers.

 

Who is a Registered Nurse?

A Registered Nurse is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. An RN’s scope of practice is determined by legislation, and is regulated by a professional body , In Nigeria that body is Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria  a category B parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health established by Decree No. 89, 1979.

How to Apply for Lagos State School of Nursing Igando

The application form can be obtained at the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing, LASU-Isheri Road, Igando (Within the premises of Alimosho General Hospital) upon payment prescribed fees to the Lagos State College of Nursing & Midwifery,

Submit Completed forms with four (4) passport photographs and photocopies of relevant documents (Birth certificate, Testimonial and WASCCE/NECO etc) are to be submitted to the Lagos State College of Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health Nursing Igando on or before set date.The Entrance Examination questions will cover English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, General Knowledge, Current Affairs and Introduction to Nursing.Only successful candidates will be shortlisted for interview

From the portal home page click on Make Payment button (You need to make payment first before you can complete your form).

Fill in your correct details and select your preferred payment options (Online Payment Through ATM or Payment at the Bank).

If your option is Bank Payment, An RRR code will be generated for payment at the Bank Counter.

After successful payment, proceed to fill the Application Form (Note: that your e-mail and password supplied during payment will be used as your User ID and Password to log into your account).

3. School of Nursing, Military Hospital, Yaba

How to Apply for Nigerian Army College of Nursing Admission

Admission Requirements: Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 Credits in their O-Level Result (WAEC, NECO, GCE) which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. A maximum of two sitting is accepted. Candidates with NABTEB can also apply.

Age Limit : Candidates must be between the ages of 17 – 25 years

Duration: 3 Years , Application form is obtained directly from the office of the Registrar on payment of the sum of a non refundable fee of N5,000 Naira only. Completed application forms must be returned to the office of the Registrar on or before specified date. Interview often take the form of written aptitude test, oral interview and screening of Original O-level results.

 

4. School of Basic Midwifery, Igando

Basic Midwifery Training Programme is an aspect o Nursing and Midwifery Education that prepares students to become professional(Registered) Midwives. The Qualification are accredited and graded by the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria

Entry Requirement: WASSCE/NECO or its equivalent with Credit in five(5) subjects including English language, Maths, Biology, Physics and Chemistry in not more than 2 sittings.

Age Limit: 17 – 23 YEARS

Duration: 3 YEARS

8. School of Psychiatric Nursing, Federal Neuropsychiatric, Yaba.

Entry requirement:  Interested candidates must be registered Nurses with at least one year post qualification experience with a valid current license and must possess five (5) Credits at O’Level in the following Subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Combination of results should not be more than two (2) sittings of the same examination body.

 

Method of application:

  • Payment of non refundable fee of N10,500 (ten Thousand Five Hundred Naira Only) should be paid to any bank. Log on to www.remita.net
