The People-to-People Health Foundation, Nigeria (PPHFN) is currently seeking several positions to support the USAID-funded Nigeria Tuberculosis Local Organization Network (TB-LON) to address the critical gaps of the comprehensive Tuberculosis (TB) program in Nigeria.

TB-LON Nigeria will focus on locally generated solutions to provide TB prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and notification, while addressing stigma and discrimination.

The TB-LON Nigeria activity will expand provision of and increase access to TB services among formal and informal health providers by engaging the private sector umbrella and local chapters of health and allied professional organizations, faith-based institutions, communities and civil society.

This new business model for TB will help achieve USAID/Nigeria’s development objective of a healthier, more educated population in targeted states through utilization of quality health services in target areas and population groups.

 

Chief of Party (COP) Responsibilities

 

The COP will be the principal point of contact between the Activity and USAID, and must adjust programs and operations in response to USAID / Nigeria technical and managerial direction.

S / he will coordinate and ultimately be responsible for all award management and implementation.

The COP’s primary aim is to provide overall leadership, management and general technical direction of the entire Activity.

The COP must be highly analytical and a strategic thinker who ensures an integrated vision among different components and actors, and focuses on achieving the results defined in the award.

S / he will be expected to identify issues and risks related to an activity implementation in a timely manner, with recommendations for appropriate adjustments that are subsequently implemented.

The COP must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain interpersonal and professional relationships with USAID, GON counterparts, other national and international stakeholders, and local organizations.

The DSI will be the lead technical expert responsible for all SI aspects of the Activity, including monitoring, evaluation, analytics, and reporting of performance and results.

Communication Assistant– Speechwriter, Outreach and Advocacy at World Health Organisation (WHO)

The US President’s Malaria Initiative for States (PMI-S) is a 5-year USAID funded project managed by Management Sciences for Health (MSH) and partners to support NMEP and selected states to deliver quality malaria services. MSH seeks to recruit a Senior SM&E specialist with excellent understanding and experience of the interplay between malaria surveillance, monitoring and evaluation and overall strengthening of health systems in Nigeria. The position will support PMI-S surveillance, monitoring and evaluation activities at the federal, state, LGA and community levels, and may include routine monitoring activities, ensuring the AMELP is implemented as planned, leading data quality checks and data review meetings, and working with the team to ensure data is used to adapt program delivery. Experience with PMI and USAID systems will be an added advantage.

The documentation and advocacy assistant is responsible for generating content, updating the stakeholder database, developing high-impact communications products for stakeholders, including donors The position requires strategic thinking with the ability to deliver consistently high quality, well-written, thought-provoking materials under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Support the 5 clusters through drafting of speeches and articles, consistently ensuring a high level of accuracy and flexibility in creating, writing, and adapting content and presentation for a wide variety of audiences;
  • Undertaking original research on a range of development topics (within the context of UN system, Country Cooperation Strategy and Sustainable Development Goals) as needed to substantively inform the speech writing process;

Health Policy Plus (HP+) is a USAID-funded five-year $185 million project awarded to Palladium in August 2015. HP+ has a mandate across global, country, and subnational levels to strengthen and advance health policy priorities in HIV, family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), and maternal health. It aims to improve the enabling environment for equitable and sustainable health services, supplies, and delivery systems through policy development and implementation, with an emphasis on voluntary, rights-based health programs, and by strengthening in-country partners’ capacity to navigate complex environments for effective policy design, implementation, and financing aligned to their priorities. HP+ provides technical assistance to governments, civil society, and the private sector to effectively engage in domestic resource mobilization (DRM), put in place sustainable financing and accountability mechanisms, and make progress toward global, national, and subnational health goals.

 

HP+ has been engaged by the USAID Nigeria Office to conceptualize and design activities to improve sustainable financing for Human Immunodeficiency Virus / Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) and tuberculosis (TB) programs at the national level and in two USAID priority states – Lagos and Kano. Responsibilities

 

Overall Responsibilities:

 

The Senior Health Financing Associate will support the Health Financing Technical Advisors in conducting analysis and writing analytical pieces related to insurance integration and domestic resource mobilization for HP+ Nigeria activities on Sustainable Health Financing of HIV/AIDS and TB Programs. (S)he will work with the field and headquarter teams to ensure delivery of outputs per project workplan.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Technical Advisors in conducting analysis and report writing for deliverables specified in the project workplan.
  • Provide analytical support on health financing and economics activities, including desk-based research, literature review, and quantitative analysis.

African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET)

PPO, Surveillance and Early Warning – P5 at ECOWAS

ROLE OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent shall ensure early detection of threats to public health, and assess, design and support the implementation of appropriate intervention strategies to enable the Community and the Member States cushion the effects of these threats.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the preparation and Implementation of the Regional Health Surveillance and Early warning Policy;

  • Monitor the implementation of the Regional Health Surveillance and Early warning Policy;

 

  • Monitor the implementation of targeted actions on disease prevention and control in West Africa;

 

  • Coordinate public health-related data and information on countries’ response capacity during health emergency outbreak;

 

  • Provide Management with situational analysis of member countries health status for timely decision making and appropriate actions;

 

  • Provide technical support for preparedness and response to major health risks particularly in the field of infectious diseases and cross-border events that pose serious threats to public health;

 

  • Coordinate the activities of the network of National Coordinating Institutions (NCIs)/ National Public Health Institutes (NPHIs)/ national CDCs in ECOWAS Member States;

 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in public health, epidemiology or related relevant field from a recognized university ;

 

  • 10 years of professional experience including 5 years at a supervisory level;

 

  • knowledge in management and implementation of complex public health programs involving management of epidemics, health surveillance and health emergencies

 

  • knowledge of principles and practices of epidemics and health emergencies management;

 

  • experience in national and international deployment of multidisciplinary investigation teams;

 

  • experience in implementation of surveillance and disease control strategies;

 

  • experience in surveillance and emerging and re-emerging diseases;

 

  • experience in the organization of health systems, policies and health professionals training

  • Fluency in oral and written expressions in one of the ECOWAS official languages of the Community (English, French & Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional one will be an advantage.

 

  • Ability to set effective goals and targets for self, others, and the work unit and adjusting work or project priorities in response to changing circumstances;

 

  • Ability to use participatory approach in project planning and identify gaps affecting the achievement of program/project expectations and to design and implement intervention plans required to build the desired task;

 

  • Ability to implement rigorous monitoring and evaluation practices and to set in place regular reporting schedules relevant to key outputs;

 

  • Ability to plan, organize, control resources, and to comply with policies, procedures and protocols to achieve specific goals.
