Zobo Drink for Ovulation and Fertility

Ovulation is the process in which a mature egg is released from the ovary. After it’s released, the egg moves down the fallopian tube and stays there for 12 to 24 hours, where it can be fertilized. Sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract as long as five days after sexual intercourse under the right conditions. Your chance of getting pregnant is highest when live sperm are present in the fallopian tubes during ovulation.

In an average 28-day menstrual cycle, ovulation typically occurs about 14 days before the start of the next menstrual period. However, each person’s cycle length may be different, and the time between ovulation and the start of the next menstrual period may vary. If like many women, you don’t have a 28-day menstrual cycle, you can determine the length of your cycle and when you’re most likely to ovulate by keeping a menstrual calendar.

You can’t get pregnant if you are not ovulating because there is no egg for the sperm to fertilize. When you have a menstrual cycle without ovulating, it’s called an anovulatory cycle.

What is a Zobo drink?

Zobo drink is made from dried deep red parts of the hibiscus plant. It has sweet and tart flavors, similar to cranberry, and may be consumed hot or iced. It is rich in vitamin C, minerals, and antioxidants and helps in the treatment of hypertension and anxiety. Consuming zobo lowers the blood pressure in pre-hypertensive and mildly hypertensive adults.

Zobo drink also helps with maintaining healthy eyes, combats anemia, supports the digestive system, helps cure hypertension syndrome, prevents early aging, helps the liver function properly, and reportedly treats.

Zobo drink is popular in Western Africa, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean. Also known as roselle or sorrel, it’s been used to treat everything from high blood pressure to indigestion.

How does it work?

The fruit acids in zobo drinks may work as a laxative. Some researchers think that other chemicals in the drink might be able to lower blood pressure; decrease spasms in the stomach, intestines, and uterus; and work like antibiotics to kill bacteria and worms.

Does Zobo drink boost ovulation?

No, zobo drink does not boost fertility or ovulation even though it stimulates menstruation. In fact, studies have shown that zobo drink can prevent you from getting pregnant because of its anti-implantation and anti-conceptive effects. Even during pregnancy, zobo drink is strongly discouraged because just a cup of zobo drink can speed up the onset of labor and trigger miscarriage, it’s safest to completely avoid zobo drink throughout your pregnancy including the third trimester, and once you’ve reached full term.

Possible Side Effects

Zobo drink taken in an appropriate amount is generally considered to be safe. It has been shown to have fewer side effects, which can be ignored. Problems occur when zobo drink is taken in larger quantities. This may cause stomach upset, gas, constipation, problems while urinating, headache, and tinnitus.

Always speak to your healthcare professional especially when you are pregnant, lactating mother, or when on medication. Zobo drink may interfere with diabetes medications or hypertensive medications and may cause a further drop in blood sugar and blood pressure and this can hurt your health. Consult your doctor to avoid any interactions and side effects.
