R039 Xanax and White Xanax

Is R039 a Xanax?

R039 is a generic type of Xanax supplied by Actavis, it contains the active drug alprazolam 2mg. R039 is often prescribed to treat Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorders, and insomnia. It is extremely addictive when used long-term, making R039 addiction and abuse a serious concern.

Tolerance to R039 develops quickly, requiring the user to take more of the drug to achieve the desired effects. Someone with a R039  addiction may take up to 20 or 30 pills per day. If the user decides to stop taking R039, they may experience withdrawal effects such as anxiety, restlessness, insomnia, and tremors. The onset of withdrawal symptoms is a sign that a physical dependence has developed. The development of tolerance and withdrawal are indications of addiction.

Once a R039 addiction has taken hold, daily responsibilities such as school, work, or family are ignored as energy is redirected toward drug-seeking behavior.

Is R039 Xanax a controlled substance?

Yes, R039 is classified as a Schedule IV controlled substance. This means the medication has an accepted medical use, but it also has a risk of misuse and dependence.*

With misuse, a drug is taken for a purpose or in a way that a doctor has not prescribed. Misuse can lead to addiction, which is when you’re unable to stop taking a drug, even though it may be causing harm. With dependence, your body becomes reliant on a drug to function as usual. Dependence can lead to withdrawal symptoms if you suddenly stop taking a drug.

There are special rules around prescribing and supplying of schedule IV controlled drugs. Your doctor or pharmacist can tell you more about this.

How is R039 Taken

The R039 dosage your doctor prescribes will depend on several factors. These include:

  • the condition you’re taking R039 to treat and its severity
  • your age
  • the form of R039 you take*
  • your liver function
  • other medical conditions you may have
  • other medications you may take
  • side effects you may have with R039

R039 doses are not determined by weight.

Typically, your doctor will start you on a low dosage. Then they’ll adjust it over time to reach the amount that’s right for you. Your doctor will ultimately prescribe the smallest dosage that provides the desired effect.

The following information describes dosages that are commonly used or recommended. However, be sure to take the dosage your doctor prescribes for you. Your doctor will determine the best dosage to fit your needs.

Frequently asked questions about R039

Is R039 safe to take during pregnancy?

No, taking R039 during pregnancy can be harmful to your baby. Babies born to mothers who’ve taken benzodiazepines like R039 during pregnancy have experienced sedation and withdrawal symptoms (like poor feeding and sucking, irritability, and excessive crying). If you’re planning to become pregnant, it’s best to talk to your provider about alternative medications for your condition. Contact your provider right away if you become pregnant while taking R039, since it’s important to discuss the risks and benefits of continuing this medication. There’s a National Pregnancy Registry that monitors the safety of R039 during pregnancy. If you’re currently pregnant and taking R039, it’s encouraged that you enroll in the registry to help researchers learn about the risks.

Is R039 a sleeping pill?

No. R039 is approved by the FDA for anxiety and panic disorders, not insomnia (trouble sleeping). If you have sleep problems, discuss with your provider about your options such as cognitive behavioral therapy or other medications.

Is R039 dangerous?

As with all benzodiazepines, R039 pill has the potential to be dangerous, which is why it should only be taken as prescribed by a healthcare provider. It isn’t recommended for long-term use because of its side effects and risk of being addictive. Like white Xanax, R039 pill can be habit-forming. And if you stop the medication after taking it for a long period of time, it can cause unpleasant withdrawal symptoms, like high heart rate, sweating, nervousness, anxiety, trouble sleeping, anxiety, and more seriously, seizures. Talk to your provider if you have any concerns about taking R039.

Can you drink alcohol while taking R039?

It isn’t recommended you drink alcohol while taking R039. Doing so can heighten the side effects that they can both cause and be very dangerous. The combination can affect your breathing, slow your heart rate, cause dizziness, and can even lead to a loss of consciousness.

Is there a long-acting form of R039?

No. The long-acting (extended-release) form of alprazolam is a once-daily version of short-acting (immediate-release) alprazolam. It provides “anti-panic” effects throughout the day. Although it gets rid of the need for frequent dosing as with the short-acting version, the long-acting form still carries the risk for abuse, misuse, addiction, dependence, and withdrawal. The long-acting form is available as the brand name Xanax XR and as a generic medication. Talk with your provider about which formulation is best for you.
