Do Prostate Massages Help Prevent cancer

Do Prostate Massages Help Prevent cancer

Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the prostate — a small walnut-shaped gland in men that produces the seminal fluid that nourishes and transports sperm. Symptoms include difficulty with urination, but sometimes there are no symptoms at all. Prostate massage on the other hand involves the direct stimulation of the prostate gland with the goal of expressing prostatic fluid, with or without orgasm. Massaging of the prostate spontaneously leads to the secretion of prostatic fluid otherwise known as prostate milk. This fluid is thought to help clear the prostatic duct and help eliminate some symptoms of prostatitis. Although it provides temporary relief such as ease of urination, and improved erection in some cases, there is no proof scientifically or otherwise to support the efficacy and effectiveness of this therapy. Prostate Stimulation and Cancer

One of the medical benefits of prostate massage is in Prostate Digital Examination (PDE) a medical procedure carried out to detect prostate cancer nodules and obtain prostatic secretion (EPS) specimens for prostatitis screening. The information provided by this prostate massage can help in the prevention and reduction of cancer risk. A case-control study published in the Journal of Cancer Research and Clinical Oncology which tested the ability of a non-invasive assay to detect telomerase activity and to distinguish between prostatic cancer (Pca) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)  reported that prostate epithelial cells collected by prostate massage can substantially improve the distinction between Pca and BPH. However, performing a Prostatic massage on patients with acute prostatitis could result in severe medical consequences because of the tendency of the infection to spread to other parts of the body including cancer if present. In addition, massaging the prostate gland wrongly especially with electronic or mechanical devices could significantly impair, harm, or limit the capabilities of the male reproductive system.

Furthermore, the unusual movement around the prostate gland could also lead to bleeding around the prostate and persons with hemorrhoids are at a high risk of flare-ups and the attendant pain, itching, burning, and even bleeding if they engage in these therapies due to increased stress levels precipitated by the pain and discomfort around the rectum.

How often Should I Milk My Prostate For Cancer Prevention?

Prostate experts who believe in prostate milking as a means of prostate cancer prevention recommend a prostate massage once every month for those with a healthy and functional prostate and once a week for those with swollen prostate to help minimize the swelling, as well as improve your urinary function and sexual performance.

Studies have shown that prostate massage and prostate milking are not useful treatment options for bacterial prostatitis. In addition, male prostate milking is not recommended or officially sanctioned as a mode of treatment in western medicine. The practice of prostate milking for cancer prevention using any technique is also not without dangers or side effects. See: Alternative Cancer Treatment In Nigeria
