It is used as a nasal decongestant, for temporary relief of symptoms due to hay fever or other upper respiratory allergies, and itchy raised rashes on the skin known as hives which often occur with food or medication allergies. If an individual has seasonal allergies like hay fever, consistent nasal congestion, or year-round symptoms, his or her doctor may prescribe cetirizine hydrochloride and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride.
