Sexually Transmitted Diseases otherwise known as venereal diseases are one of the major challenges in reproductive health. There are more than 25 types of STDs known to medicine, the most common ones are gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis B, HIV, genital herpes, HIV, human papillomavirus (HPV), and trichomoniasis.

Some diseases which were previously classified as non-sexually transmitted diseases are presently been reclassified, due to new discoveries about their modes of transmission. In 2015 British scientists discovered a new sexually transmitted disease known as Mycoplasma genitalium.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases can…

  1. Destroy Ability to Bear Children

Sexually transmitted diseases are mainly transmitted via unprotected sex, some of these conditions lead to the degeneration of the sexual organs. According to the United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC), gonorrhea and chlamydia are the major causes of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility.

  1.  Destroys Marriages and Relationships

Many promising and happy marriages have been wrecked and destroyed by STDs. The development of a sexually transmitted disease in any relationship is a serious issue that raises questions about the faithfulness of the infected partner.

  1. Can lead to Major Birth Defects

The development of some STDs in pregnant women can lead to severe and complex deformities in the unborn child, some of which can ruin the entire life of the child. Some STDs can even lead to the death of the baby.

  1.  Low Sperm count

In men, the genital and urinary orifices are combined unlike in women where they are separate. STDs have been linked to morphological deformities, low motility, and count. Chlamydia and Gonorrhea, are the two major STDs associated with male infertility.

  1. Women are More Susceptible to STDs than Men

The anatomy of the female reproductive system is responsible for this disparity in susceptibility. The opening and the structure of the vagina, unlike the penis, make the woman more vulnerable to STDs and other infections, this makes it easier for men to infect women.

  1. STDs Manifest Faster In Men than Men than Women.

Many sexually transmitted diseases are insidious in women that are to say women show no symptoms of the disease even though they are infected and can transmit the disease, unlike their male counterparts who develop symptoms almost immediately women with Gonorrhea may not develop symptoms for months, and are oblivious to its presence.

  1. Destroys Your Reputation

Coming down with a sexually transmitted disease in a community you are well known to could taint your reputation especially when you are considered a respectable family man or woman.

Sometimes the cost of that quickie might just be more than you have ever imagined

  1. Am surprised there is no mention of the type of staphilococcus aureaus that prevalent every where. It defies all medicatrion. Most doctors says its nothing yet it has killed so many people that i know. If you have a solution let me know in order that so many lives can be saved. Thank you.

  2. Bannon clearly played some role in helping Trump. Trump won the nomination with the brass knuckle operation under Lewandowski, then he was falling apart under Manafort, then he gained some momentum again under Bannon.
